Who does bed bug treatment in Thane?

A Sai Pest Control has treated bed bugs across Thane since 2001, working from an office in Khopat, Thane West. We hold an Insecticide Licence issued by the Department of Agriculture, Government of Maharashtra, and are Udyam registered. Bed bugs are the only pest this division handles.

Bed bugs are carried into a home, not created by it. A clean flat in a new Ghodbunder Road tower is just as likely to get them as an older building in Kopri. Cleanliness is not the deciding factor — what comes through the door is.

Bed bug pest control, khatmal pest control, bed bug removal — one job, several names

People look for this work in different ways. Bed bug pest control. Khatmal pest control. Bedbug treatment. Bed bug removal. Or simply an exterminator for a flat where nothing else has worked.

It is the same job every time: a free inspection, 100°C thermal steam into the seams and joints where the eggs sit, a residual spray into the cracks the steam cannot reach, and a follow-up visit at 15 days. If you searched using the Hindi or Marathi name, you are in the right place — khatmal and dhekun are the local names for bed bugs.

Bed bugs are also the only pest this division handles. General pest control companies treat them between cockroach and termite jobs; we build the method around bed bugs alone. For cockroach, termite, rodent, mosquito or mite work, our full-service division is at asaipestcontrol.com.

Why spray alone does not clear them

Most people who call us have already treated the room themselves, sometimes three or four times. The bites stop for about ten days, then start again — and the conclusion is that nothing works on bed bugs.

The reason is the egg. A bed bug egg is glued deep inside a mattress seam, a cot joint or a plywood gap, and it has a hard outer shell that ordinary residual sprays do not get through. The adults die; the eggs hatch over the following one to two weeks and the population rebuilds.

Either method alone leaves a gap. Sustained contact with steam at 100°C reaches eggs that spray cannot, and dry thermal steam carries very little moisture, which is why it is used on mattresses and wooden furniture rather than soaking them. But a steam nozzle cannot enter a wall cavity or stay behind skirting, and that is exactly where bed bugs retreat between feeds. The residual spray covers that half. Our complete guide to getting rid of bed bugs goes through this in detail.

Which parts of Thane do you cover?

All of Thane West and Thane East, plus Kalwa. Because we are based in Khopat, travel time inside Thane is short — which is the main reason Thane addresses usually get a slot faster than Mumbai or Navi Mumbai ones.

Central Thane

Older cooperative societies and mid-rise buildings near Thane station, Talao Pali and the Raymond area in Vartak Nagar. Furniture in these homes tends to be wooden and has often stayed in the same position for years, which is exactly where bed bugs establish themselves. Two places account for most of what we find: the joints of a cot that has never been moved, and the wall behind a fixed headboard.

Wagle Estate and Vasant Vihar

A mix of established residential societies, staff accommodation and small commercial units. PG and shared accommodation is common around the Wagle Estate industrial belt, and those rooms need the whole floor planned together rather than one bed at a time — an untreated bed re-seeds the treated ones within a fortnight.

Thane East and Kalwa

Older low-rise buildings and chawl-type housing with timber fittings, shared walls and more harbourage points. Bed bugs move between adjoining homes through wall gaps and old conduit runs here, so these jobs need patient inspection rather than speed — the bugs are rarely all in one room.

Ghodbunder Road

High-rise towers, gated complexes and newly possessed flats. Fewer wall cracks than an old building, but bed bugs move between adjoining flats through service ducts, and in tall buildings the spread is often vertical — two flats stacked above each other rather than side by side. Furniture bought at the time of moving in is the most common source we find here. The item itself is rarely infested; the risk is the warehouse, the delivery vehicle and the shared loading area it passed through.

If your area is not listed, call and ask. We will tell you honestly rather than send a team on a wasted trip.

How can I tell if it is really bed bugs?

Take a torch and ten minutes. Check five things: small dark spots the size of a pen dot along the mattress seams, rust-coloured smears on the bedsheet, pale shed skins near the stitching, live reddish-brown insects about the size of an apple seed, and a sweet musty smell in a closed room.

  1. Run a torch along the mattress piping. Lift the seam with a fingernail and look inside the fold. Work all four sides, then the underside and the corner tags. Infestations almost always start here.
  2. Check the bed frame joints and screw holes. Bed bugs prefer wood and fabric to metal.
  3. Look behind the headboard and at the wall behind it. One of the most commonly missed spots.
  4. Check the sofa — seams, under the cushions, inside the armrest folds — if anyone naps on it.
  5. Move outward. Curtain hems, wardrobe corners and the skirting nearest the bed.

Bites alone do not confirm it. Skin reactions vary from person to person, and two people in the same bed can be bitten equally while only one shows marks. Our page on the signs of bed bugs shows what each sign looks like.

This page is for identification purposes only. For any skin reaction, please consult a qualified doctor. We are pest control specialists, not medical practitioners.

Not sure? Send us a photo — free

Take a clear photo of the insect, or of the dark spots on your mattress seam, and send it on WhatsApp. We will tell you what it is at no cost and with no obligation to book. Bed bugs are regularly confused with cockroach nymphs, carpet beetles and ticks, and each needs a different treatment.

What does the treatment involve?

  1. Free inspection. We check mattress seams, bed frames, headboards, sofa joints, curtains, wardrobe corners, skirting and switchboards, and tell you honestly how far it has spread. In a tower or a PG we also ask about the adjoining flats. The final price is confirmed here, before any work begins.
  2. Preparation guidance. A written list before the visit: wash bedding, sheets, pillow covers and curtains hot, clear clutter around the sleeping area, and pull furniture away from the walls. Preparation makes a real difference because it opens up the hiding places the technician needs to reach. Do not spray the room yourself beforehand — it scatters the bugs deeper into the cracks.
  3. Treatment, 1.5 to 2.5 hours. 100°C thermal steam first, worked slowly along seams, cot joints, headboards and sofa folds. Then the CIB-approved low-odour residual spray, placed into cracks, joints and skirting at label dosage rather than across open surfaces.
  4. Follow-up at 15 days. Eggs that survive the first round hatch inside that window, and the young bugs are at their most exposed. The second visit is what breaks the breeding cycle, and it is included in the price rather than charged separately.

After the visit

Keep the treated rooms closed for three to four hours while the spray dries, then open windows and doors for twenty to thirty minutes to ventilate before going back in. Do not wet-mop the treated skirting for about 48 hours, or the residual layer meant to stay there is removed. Keep sleeping in the same room — moving to the hall means the bugs follow and you end up with two affected rooms. Keep the day-15 appointment even if the room looks clear; that is exactly when it usually looks clear.

Your technician will confirm exact timings for your property, and will tell you before leaving if anyone in the house — children, elderly family members or anyone bedridden — needs different instructions.

A job on Ghodbunder Road

2 BHK high-rise, bedroom and living room

The situation. The family had been treating the bedroom themselves with a shop-bought spray for several weeks. The bites kept returning after about ten days each time.

Found on inspection. Live activity in the joints of the wooden bed frame and along the mattress piping, and a second cluster in the folds and armrest seams of the living room sofa, where one family member had started sleeping to avoid the bedroom.

Treated. Steam through the bed frame joints, mattress seams and headboard, then the full sofa — seams, cushion folds and underside — followed by residual spray along the skirting in both rooms.

Follow-up at 15 days. Re-inspection of both rooms, with re-entry and aftercare guidance given to the family.

Customer name and address withheld for privacy.

This is the most common pattern we see in Thane. Moving to another room does not escape bed bugs — they follow, and the household ends up with two infested rooms instead of one.

Children, pets and safety

The steam stage is heat only — no product is applied while steaming. The stage that follows uses a CIB-approved low-odour formulation, placed into cracks, joints and skirting at label dosage rather than across open surfaces.

Occupants and pets should step out during the spray stage and stay out until treated surfaces are dry. Cover aquariums, and move pet bowls, food and children’s toys out beforehand. Every customer receives written pre-treatment and post-treatment instructions. Tell us in advance if anyone at home is elderly or bedridden, so that room can be sequenced rather than rushed.

Do bed bugs spread disease? No. Bed bugs are not known to transmit disease to humans. What they cause is bites, itching, broken sleep and a great deal of distress. That is reason enough to deal with them properly, without anyone needing to overstate the risk.

Questions asked most often in Thane

How much does bed bug treatment cost in Thane?

Bed bug treatment in Thane costs ₹3,500 for a 1 BHK, ₹4,500 for a 2 BHK and ₹5,400 for a 3 BHK. Inspection is free. Every residential price includes the follow-up visit at 15 days, and there is no separate travel charge anywhere in Thane.

Is the inspection really free?

Yes. The inspection is free and carries no obligation to book. If we find that the insect is not a bed bug, we will tell you that and point you towards the correct treatment instead.

How quickly can you reach my area in Thane?

Our office is in Khopat, so most Thane addresses get a same-day or next-day slot. Central Thane is 5 to 15 minutes away, Wagle Estate and Vasant Vihar 10 to 20 minutes, Thane East and Kalwa 10 to 20 minutes, and Ghodbunder Road 15 to 30 minutes depending on traffic.

Do you offer bed bug treatment near me in Thane?

If you are anywhere in Thane West, Thane East, along Ghodbunder Road or in Kalwa, then yes. Our office is in Khopat, Thane West, so most Thane addresses get a same-day or next-day slot. Tell us your area and the size of your flat and we will give you the charges on the call itself.

What is khatmal pest control?

Khatmal is the Hindi name for bed bugs, and dhekun is the Marathi name. Khatmal pest control, bed bug pest control and bed bug treatment all mean the same work: inspecting the mattress seams, frame joints and sofa, applying 100°C steam to destroy the eggs, spraying the cracks, and returning after 15 days to break the breeding cycle.

Do you cover Ghodbunder Road societies?

Yes. We work across Manpada, Waghbil, Kasarvadavali, Brahmand, Owale, Kolshet and Hiranandani Estate. In high-rise towers we always ask whether the adjoining flat has the same problem, because bed bugs move between flats through service ducts.

My flat is only a few years old. How did bed bugs get in?

Bed bugs travel with belongings, not with buildings. A new flat has fewer wall cracks, but the bed, sofa or wardrobe that moved in can carry them from a warehouse, a delivery vehicle or a previous home. Tell us when the furniture arrived — it changes what we inspect first.

A flat in my society has bed bugs. Should I treat mine?

Speak to us before deciding. In buildings with shared walls and ducts, treating one flat while the neighbouring flat stays untreated is one of the most common reasons an infestation comes back. If we see that pattern we will say so, even though it means recommending a coordinated society treatment rather than a single flat.

Do you treat PG rooms and hostels in Thane?

Yes. Around the Wagle Estate belt and near Thane station we treat a high volume of PG and shared accommodation. These need several rooms planned together, because one untreated room re-seeds the rest within weeks.

Is the treatment safe for children and pets?

The steam stage is heat only, with no product applied while steaming. The residual stage uses a CIB-approved low-odour formulation applied at label dosage into cracks and crevices rather than across open surfaces. Keep children and pets out of the treated rooms until the surfaces dry, cover aquariums, and follow the written aftercare sheet the technician leaves with you.

Do bed bugs spread disease?

No. Bed bugs are not known to transmit disease to humans. They cause bites, itching, disturbed sleep and considerable distress, which is reason enough to treat an infestation promptly. For any skin reaction, please consult a qualified doctor — we are pest control specialists, not medical practitioners.
